During my last visit, I discovered that an old tradition in Jersey, allowed the local people to take “time out” if they had committed a crime (hmmmm… interesting idea this….) and they could go and shelter in their nearest church for 8 days and while they were there, nobody could arrest them. Their families could visit them and bring them food while they were sheltering in the church. Then on the 9th day, the person had to make a choice either to submit to trial in the Courts, or to leave the island for good and take their chances somewhere else in the world. In order to allow people to make this choice, every church had a special path that went down to the beach, and while you were walking on this path you could not be arrested. The paths were called

“Les Perquages”, and you can still see this name on many of the street signs around the island. (There is that French influence again – I wonder if it was a French idea to have an official “get out of jail free” system?) So in olden times, ancient Lore superseded the Law of the land in Jersey. I mused over this for a while during my last stay in St Helier and wondered if it would be a good idea to introduce such a system nowadays? Maybe our MPs could all go and closet themselves in Westminster Abbey for a week and then hot foot it to Westminster Pier to catch a boat out of the UK, rather than having to hand back their expenses and possibly face trail? It would be a sort of latter day Dunkirk, but in reverse.

In fact I rather like the idea of disposing of our MPs by palming them off on the rest of the EU…

Time to move into March and that is when I always start to look out for the first signs of spring – you know… spring bulbs starting to push leaf tips through the ground, a hint of fresh green on the hedgerows and birds in the garden giving a free porno show (and usually making a noise about it too)! And I can’t say it isn’t welcome because this winter has just gone on far too long and with far too much really nasty weather for me! Being a naturally passionate person, I hate the cold – I want to be able to rip my clothes off and rush around the garden without getting goose-bumps the size of chicken eggs! So the sooner we get some sun, the better, as far asI am concerned! Meanwhile, has anyone got some spare long-johns I can borrow (pink is my favourite colour for long-johns, by the way).

I still have some serious studying to do, so I am going to be based in London for the next two months, but I have worked out that I have quite a lot of opportunity to go touring between May and September, so I would be interested to hear from anyone who would like to suggest places that I should visit. January was a really busy month… first of all the clear up after all the Christmas festivity (how do your family manage to make quite so much mess just from eating a few meals and having a few days off school or work?)

Then all that bad weather which caused everything to grind to a virtual halt

And in my case, I had the prospect of some important exams to take, so I have been rather out of circulation with my head stuck in a huge pile of books and my Internet connection being very well used!

But I am glad to report that I have come through the testing time unscathed and can now get back to a more normal routine…. well, for the time being, anyway, until I have to prepare for the next set of exams later on in the summer!

So, I suddenly realized that not only have I been away from my Blog, but I have also been away from my friends in Scotland for quite a while! And I have decided to correct this right away! I have packed my bag and jumped onto an available flight and I am writing this Blog entry from Inverness, where I am staying until Thursday. Then I shall pop in to Perth on Thursday, and after that on to Glasgow on Friday! And what I am really looking forward to is that I have arranged to meet up with my friend Crista while I am in Perth and Glasgow. I always enjoy having a good natter with her and of course, it also gives us the opportunity to enjoy a little 2-girl fun, if anyone is interested!!!

I have already described for you the horror flight that I had to take recently in that elongated Pringles tube that called itself an airplane and “hops” (huh! That’s what fluffy bunnies are supposed to do!) around the Channel Islands. Well I recently went back to Jersey to visit some of my friends and made sure that I was booked to fly on a proper sized aircraft – you know, one with a stewardess to serve a drink… one with the captain hidden in his cockpit up front where he should be… one where I am not sitting right next to a door that might fly open at any moment! I was sure that the journey would not be too trying, even though I much prefer to be firmly planted on terra-firma

How wrong can a girl be?

On the flight home, I noticed it was quite windy, but nobody thought to warn us that we would be flying headlong into a Tsunami that appeared to have gathered over Gatwick ready for our arrival! As we came in to land, the plane was rocking and rolling side to side like a fairground “attraction”. It was horrible. The wings were all over the place! And as we were coming right down on our final approach suddenly the engines screamed out loud and we shot up, up, up…. I thought I was on the Space Shuttle! And then we spent half an hour going around in a big circle being buffeted around in the wind like a stick on the surface of a stormy sea, while the captain explained to us that just as we were coming in to land, the aircraft in front had been so badly blown by the wind that one of it’s wing tips had actually touched the runway surface and been damaged – thus causing a major emergency scramble for the airport fire and medical services! And closing the runway –just as we were going to touch down!!

Well, hearing this certainly gave me added confidence for our chances of a safe landing when our turn eventually came about, so I was already to jump up and demand to be given a parachute and left to fend for my own survival! But at this point the (rather charming, I must say) young steward, who had been watching my knuckles getting whiter and whiter and the clumps of hair that I was tearing out in impotent frustration, decided that enough was enough and he slid quietly into the seat next to me and held my hand for the rest of the circling until we did eventually make it down onto land! Now that is what I call good service!

And no, I didn’t slip him my web-site address, although I would rather have liked to see him again!

but while I was there I did have a slightly tricky situation to deal with! And I don’t mean the daily hassle of sorting out the “real” calls from the “idiot” ones (who would ever believe that there are men who have time and money to make stupid, meaningless calls to Escorts, when they clearly have no intention of making a booking – and actually seem to have no idea of what Escorting is actually all about!!?? Sad individuals, I always think, who can get a thrill by wasting their time and money in this way!)

But now, I invite your opinions on how the following situation should have been best dealt with….

There I was, starting to entertain one of my regular friends, who had come to see me mid-afternoon at the hotel where I was staying. He is a lively and lovely chap (you know who you are!) and I was really looking forward to spending some time with him again!

I was dressed up in my most appropriate way, just how he likes, and we were settling down to enjoy our time together, and things were just starting to get rather interesting when our conversation was interrupted by an ear-shattering clanging bell, and the sound of distant “whoop whoop” sirens. Yep, that’s right – the hotel fire alarm had been triggered!!

Now this fire alarm thing hasn’t happened to me often – only twice before. And on each occasion, it soon turned out to be a false alarm. No harm done and no inconvenience to anyone, really but this time the bells went on ringing and ringing and ringing. So eventually I decided that maybe it was a serious alarm and we decided that we should follow the instructions that were being shouted over megaphones (well it sounded like that) and we decided that we would have to vacate and go to the car park with everyone else and at this point someone banged on the door! Good service actually, that the hotel would send a staff person to run up and down making sure we were all out and safe, I thought… (Even though I have no idea who it actually was who caused my feeling of spontaneous gratitude! Might have been a terrified guest, I suppose!!)
But whatever and whomever, the effect was to make us feel the need to dash out to the safety if the car park as quickly as possibly.

Now, here is the bit that needs your input…

I am dressed in a “boudoir” type of outfit… My gentleman friend had lost his trousers somewhere and really didn’t have much of an outfit on at all! But nevertheless we quickly gathered as much dignity as we could and ran outside in case we might otherwise burn to death!

Standing in the car park, I wondered how many people were looking at me, wondering who I was… a lady who looked like a slightly rumpled lingerie model! My gentleman had been able to pull on some basics and looked disheveled but normal – if you believe that people look as though they have only just got out of bed at 4pm in the afternoon, in a hotel car park!

The fire alarm apparently was caused by something in the hotel kitchen – chip pan or something like that I suppose. But as it was a real fire situation, they then started to do a roll call! And while this was going on my gentleman was spotted by someone who knew him and engaged in conversation…!!

So…  What would you have done?

Disheveled Gentleman who was officially unrecorded by the hotel but going to be checked off, and -
Friend of said gent, wondering what he was doing there, and -
Me, urgently needing to get my gent back to the room to at least collect his clothes!

The world of escorting is fraught with the unexpected, I have to say!
